Hi, I have recently purchased a Saturno Bialbero Anniversary from New Zealand and are trying to import it into Australia. The issue I have is proving the date of manufacture from the Vin number. There appears to only be 11 numbers in the Vin, and all decoders want 17 numbers which is what a modern Vin has.
The numbers are; Vin M8222-100836, Frame 939039, and Engine 221*002329
Any help would be greatly appreciated working out the year and month of build date.
Andrew.

Re: Saturno Bialbero Anniversary.
Hello and welcome
The japanese VINs are somehow different to those around here.
The european (worldwide, except Japan?) VINs are
222 for Saturno
100xxx
If i remove the M8 from yours...
Your 836 should be a later one
Around 1991 i would say
There is a register in Arcore.
But i suppose they only have the data from the old Gileras.
Don't know if they know bout the Nuovo Saturno.
Maybe it's worth to send a little mail...

Re: Saturno Bialbero Anniversary.
Thanks Joachim, I'll see what I can turn up. I am still trying to get a reply from Piaggio, but no luck so far. Was this model actually built when Piaggio was the owner of Gilera, or was it someone else? I think it will be a fun journey chasing all the information on this bike. I actually already own a Gilera, a 125 CX, which is the best handling bike I've ever ridden ( I've been riding since I was 4 years old, now 60, so there's been a few), is there a place on the site that covers these bikes? Information on them is a little scarce.
Ciao; Andrew.
