Cylinder barrel had a large chunk broken off the base gasket surface, but that has now been repaired. Barrel has also been honed....there was virtually no wear in the cylinder.

I had to manufacture an inlet manifold from scratch using a bit of scrap steel plate and pipe. Just needs to be plated.

Crankcases have been hydroblasted, masked and painted.....etch prime + top coat. Heat-resistant hammered finish has been impossible to find (importing is way to expensive) so I ended up using an 'ordinary' hammered finish paint (Dulux). Thinking about it, I doubt that Gilera would have used a heat-resistant paint, not only because it would have been a rarity in the 60's, but also quite expensive. Considering they largely used unplated, machined fasteners I doubt a specialised heat-resistant paint would have been high in the priority list.

Just to be different....two of my other bikes. '83 BMW K100 and '81 XS1100RH (Australian version of the European/UK XS1100S). BM has been my 'daily' (literally) for 20+ years. The XS has just been finished from a rolling 'bitsa'....it's now actually a 1200 but I won't tell anyone if you won't

Well it's been awhile but I am finally getting my 202 parts back from painting this week or next. Pic of tank attached.
