Dear Joachim, thank you for your reply. Do I just separate the gear from the clutch carefully with a screwdriver? Is there any reason to check on the kickstart while I have the bike in this situation? And also the decompression mechanism? There is a fairly good YouTube video on the kickstart which I have seen in my travels, but I cannot remember one that explains the decompression system. Maybe you could direct me in that department. I will obtain a complete clutch from Bob Wright as I don't think I have the ability or the tools to do a rebuild job with the KTM bearing part, as in the video. Thanks once going for all help, Leo

Dear HP, Joachim, and anyone else. I am planning on taking the kick starter out of the Gilera Saturno 500. I can't remember where but I saw someone in a video giving the name of a screw to blank the exit off. Does anyone know? Or does anyone have the necessary for sale? Thank you leo

Dear HP, I see on a lot of photos of Gilera Saturno bikes , none of them have Ciriani front forks. My bike has, were they a later add-on or what? They have the quick release mechanisms to drop the front wheel with the axle out in one piece. Love to know the story regards Leo PS also have adjustment top and bottom.

the Ceriani fork was not on the european Saturnos.
As far as i know, it was only mounted on the japanese TT Version.
Together with a different fairing, seat and exhaust.

Next time i will read with more care.
I thought you are through and your Sat is back on the road ;)

Replacing the sprag clutch is not that hard.
You should use some kind of a big hose clamp to fix the cover before bending up the edge with a big screw driver.
Same when you put back the cover and bending down the edge with a hammer.
I think that is what is shown at the rapidmouse pages.
The clutch is also available from China.
Have a look at the ebay shop of tongtong-motor

Due to my lousy english i am not shure about the kickstarter question.
There is a trick for remounting the kickstarter and the case.
There is a big allen key bolt on the left side of the motor.
The procedure is described in the workshop manual.
If you are not shure about that, just ask again. I will try to translate HPs guide i have here.

ciao Joachim

dear Joachim, thanks very much for your reply. English is great, lot better than most Australians. Interesting about the Ciriani front forks! Still looking for some way of blocking off the holes after removing the kickstart a mechanism. Regards Leo

now i got it ;)

The plug for the cover is made by Luigi itself for the Gileras without a kickstarter.
Nordies for example.
Maybe someone has one left over.

did you have access t oa turning lathe?
Maybe it's easier and cheaper to get a plug made.
I think i somewhere have a cover with that plug to make a sketch.
No, i need the cover myself, because i can not use a kickstarter any more.

However i will ask Achim if he has a plug

No time today for measuring the plugs. I even did not find them ;)
But Achim has a set.
If you send me an email adress (PM) i can send pics he has made.
If you will do them by yourself you can see how they look and how to fix them in the cover.

ciao Joachim

Joachim, what is the brand name & part number for the spragg clutch bearing for the starter clutch for Saturno 500 ? Is it as stated on the Utube video called The FREEWHEEL of the Starter, which is KTM 584.40.026.000 . Could let me know if this is all i have to get to complete the repair. leo

yep the K*M part is the right one.

There are some people out there who have repaired the cluth with the spring of a big radial sealing ring.
Like Luca has done in the video here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQgG0HE ... h7hTw4S72Q
Or visit your local K*M shop.
A new clutch should also be available here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fur-KTM-LC-4-6 ... Sw8lpZIltj
I have no experience with that. You cannot see very much on the added pics.
Maybe it's the same as i bought from Poland, just to see how the quality is.
Both from China?
Maybe cheap is not everything that counts :(

ciao Joachim
