You are absolutely right Joachim, the manual says SAE 20 to 40.
So the 50 grade oil is a little thicker resulting in firmer damping.
But that is very welcome as most of us are heavier then the average Italian rider

That should be about 90cc for each fork leg.
I usually put in regular engine oil, SAE 50.

Nockenwelle so positionieren, dass die Stößel nicht belastet werden.

That's odd. This is not an early 124. It looks like a 124 FL Speciale Strada but I am not sure it is. These were built between 1965 and 1967. The VIN number of a 124 FL should start with 101 followed by 73xxx or 90xxx and up. Can you check your frame number and engine number again ...

Welcome! The VIN number that you have mentioned is from a very early 124.
The Gilera 124 was introduced in november 1959, production started in 1960.
So the year of production of your Gilera should be 1960.
Can you share a picture of your Gilera with us?

What a fantastic bike Owen! Great that you have kept it original.
It is an ultra rare scrambler version of the Gilera 202 model range.
I think it was a factory spec as it was mentioned in the adverts.
That says in the bottom "Also available in Extra and Scrambler models".

Wenn es sich um eine Uni-Lackierung handelt, dann müssen Sie unbedingt Rosso Targa haben.
Das ist eine schöne dunkle Farbe Rot. Der Farbcode von Lechler ist GIL A5.

Es gibt aber auch eine Version in Schwarz mit ein rotem ...

michiel55 wat een leuke machine! Aan de kleur te zien is dit een Spaanse Gilera Motovespa.
Dit model werd destijds in licentie gebouwd voor de toen afgesloten Spaanse markt.

Milesrhodes47 you probably have got a Gilera 124. The models for the US market have frame and engine numbers starting with 124. The 808 number is an additional number added by Sears for their own administration.
