Try Bob Wright:

He's a Gilera specialist, including these old models, but he can be a bit slow to respond via email.

202 engine case paint ?

The paint used on the crankcase halves of the 202 engine was in pretty poor condition, so I had them vapour blasted. This removed all the old paint nicely, but has revealed the casting surface defects that the paint was used to hide. Painting was a common method used in those days (60's) to hide cos...

Re: 40mm Dellorto Float height

the tip is viton and whilst changing things is always better, the condition looks good. Looks like the seat is also replaceable on the PHM, so something to consider if problems persist. I will stick to the Gilera manual although "Turn over the carburettor and let float rest on the needle's damper" ...

Re: 40mm Dellorto Float height

I have overhauled the carby from a Gilera 500 and found the float had let a lot of fuel thru overflow and into the cylinder. luckily i could hear it and removed sparkplug for safety. If you haven't already, suggest changing the float needle (+ seat, if its of the replaceable type). The new type flo...

Re: B300 extra parts

When I originally re assembled ( all most 30 years ago) I didn’t have diagrams, so shims quite possibly not in or in wrong position thanks for advice, I might need some more re condition of dogs, what should I look for ? Working without diagrams/manuals would have made things much harder, plus the ...

Re: Gilera 202 needs work (lots.....)

Valve gear has been butchered by someone with an angle grinder. Looks like they lost the spring used to keep the rocker arms apart so got creative and took an angle grinder to the inlet rocker to allow them to use some ordinary washers to keep the rocker arms apart.

Re: Gilera 202 needs work (lots.....)

The engine.....what a mess. Made some serious rumbling noises when turned over using the kick starter. It soon became obvious why once I stripped it down. A substantial amount of water had been sitting in the crank case for some period of time leaving a 'high tide' mark (see red arrow). All the bear...

Re: Gilera 202 needs work (lots.....)

Managed to get some work done on the 202. The silver tank that came with the bike didn't match any of the frame mounts but I was able to source an original 202 fuel tank plus other parts like a rear guard. Obviously everything will need painting.
