Model Identification?

I bought this bike without any documents, so can anyone identify it from the frame number?

I believed it to be a 124 Extra, or a variant of that type.

The frame, which was originally red, has the number is *101*2968* and thought to be from about 1960 era.

Thanks,
Roger.

Hi Roger!

I've found just this link about Gilera "frame 101".

http://www.motoclub-tingavert.it/t353778s.html

Shortly, your Gilera it's a Gilera "124 4v", model year 1962 (first series).

Have a nice day!

Ciao

Marco

Thanks Marco! :D

I thought it may have been this model.

I sent the same information to a guy that retrieves (if he can) old bike registrations, and will issues a letter authenticating the bikes date of manufacture, so that you can get the bike registered for the road. However, he seems unable to help as his records do not show any frame numbers like mine

Hi Roger.

Uhm..... I'll try to send an e-mail at the historical register of Gilera, here in Italy. *thumb*

See you soon!

I have sent one also Marco and they have replied....

Based on the chassis number the motion turns out to be
124 Giubileo of 1960. :D

Sorry to highjack the thread but I have a question about the identification of an engine. I want to restore a gilera engine to operational status but I need to figure out what motor it was from and then source out the parts for it. I wa not able to find anything of use and the engine number is all I have:
This is it: *139*012519

Do you think any of you guys can help me out? thanks in advance!

Hi!

Not sure what the "139" stands for.

What is the cc of this motor?

Do you have any images you can down-load?

My parts have been found on Ebay.it or Ebay.com and www.subito.it

Way to modern for me naka.

I know very little about two stroke Gileras.

@ naka. Ask Gottfried Hahne(WWW.hahne-power.de)
he might be able to tell you what engine it is and if
your'e lucky he's got some parts for it.

Pics always give a big help ;)
That is a more modern 2stroker Gilera engine.
Inlet into the cylinder and mechanical APTS (at least i think so).
Maybe from a SP01 or an earlier model.
I'll see if i can find more details with the number.

to follow the common pattern of Gilera, the engine 139 belongs to the bikes VIN 138.
So it should be from a KZ125.

Thanks again Pete for this informations.
