Hi all,
Glad to find this Forum

Have been looking for information etc on the Nordwest.
I am working in Saudi Arabia and I have been given a Nordwest as a project, all black with white wheels but it is a mess, it's been standing outside unused for years and is not running. I am collecting it on Thursday then I will give it a good look over and start cleaning it up.
My main question is-- Are parts still available for this bike ? Besides the RC600 are there any other bikes with common parts ?
I tried to add details to my Profile but the message that my Password was different kept popping up.
Cheers
Ian

Welcome aboard, yes there are other bikes like the XRT,...but only a few engine parts and radiators are comun, also Saturno has a few.
check with hahne here on the forum or with Bob Wright in the UK.

Hi Ian
Even some private owners have material and will help to exchange, if needed.
Kind regards

Welcome Ian
If the bike hasn't been used for a while, then you should change the cambelt before starting it.
As well as the many enthusiasts on this excellent Forum, our Club has numerous members with Nordwest bikes and may be able to answer any questions you have. Our web site is igottagilera.co.uk and you can email us on

Thanks for your messages,
I now have my Nordwest which is in a bad state having stood outside for six years although I was surprised that the brakes work. I have removed the starter motor and it works fine but the carbs are stuck, no surprise there, the same needed attention as some Ducati M600s that we rescued from a scrap yard here in Saudi.
The engine was stuck at first but I removed the plug and putting some penetrating oil down the plug hole did it's work ( turning the back wheel while in gear ) and it seems to have good compression. The cam belt looks OK but I will change it anyway.
I have started to clean it up using lots of WD40 the worst parts are the discs, chain and sprockets which are all rusty. The chain is not worn but the "O" rings are all cracked so that is scrap. The frame has only minor rust in some small areas.
I am going to take all the main units off to give everything a good clean up and make a list of missing and broken parts.
Cheers
Ian
