broken timing belt

Post by nznordi » Wed Aug 23, 2006 11:34 pm

Hey folks im a new member from New Zealand, thanks for having me. I own a 93 Nordwest. Recently the timing belt broke whilst i was riding at high revs, i immediately pulled in the clutch & i am wondering what sort of internal damage i should expect eg,bent valves, damaged guides etc. The bike has only done 12000kms & i want to start ordering some parts. Can anyone suggest what i can expect to find before i start to dismantle the engine. Many thanks in advance
Craig.

First rule... change the timing belt when you get your Gilera !!!
Tooooo late now

Usually you will have, at least, bent valves.

For parts you may get in touch with Bob Wright (www.bobwrightmotorcycle.co.uk) in Britain, Volker Heim (www.heimracing.de) or Gottfried Hahne (www. hahne-power.de) in Germany.

ciao joachim
