misfire...

my gilera apache 125 (same motor as the crono and cx) misfires and cuts out, mostly at rpm above 4000. this may be the coil, I have been told this unit has a CDI inside as well. I would like to try a replacment, is an equivilent unit avalible cheeply? or does anyone here have a second hand one they would sell me, so i could try it and help find the mystery!

I have changed the plug and the plug wire and the plug cap this help for a few hours but it came back later. I hae had a look at the stator and it looks fine with no loose wires, i have checked and cleaned all the connections. I am at a loss ; (.....
