Gilera 125cc serial numbers identification

Post by AustraliaGilera » Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:15 am

Hi all and thx for the join.
I have a Gilera 125 and am trying to work out the model and year.
The frame number is *001*55053*
Engine number *001*55088*
The tank is not correct and i doesn't know whats its off and there are a few Ducati parts like speed on the bike. I want to restore and ride it.
It currently runs very well. Thx Grant

Hi Grant,
maybe it's this one. It's the only one I know with the exhaust pipe having an extra bend underneath the engine. You can also check the carb which is 18mm for the 98 and 20mm for the 124. (Or call the telephone no. and ask  )
Cheers,
Malte

I think Joachim and Malte are right, it is quite certainly a GIlera 98SS.
In the USA these were sold as the Gilera 106 because they are 106cc.
The fuel tank that you have got is from a GIlera 150 5V Autostrada.

Greetings,
