Hi everyone,
I am in Connecticut USA.
Glad to find this board.
I am restoring a 1966(?) Gilera 106SS (Sears) "basket case". It is completely dissassmbled and painted, new rings, tires cables etc. Amazingly, the speedo has 1587 miles but the rest of the bike is pretty beat up .The engine looks like it has only 1585...it is clean and bright on all internal surfaces, there is no carbon on the head or valves, traces on the piston, no cylinder scoring, and the points look brand new. So I am mystified about the condition of the engine vs the rest of the bike. Question: is mileage considered low for a bile like this?
Anyway, Ill keep everyone informed on how things go. I plan to use the Air-Tec fiberglass Gilera tank and seat like a 1957 racer,in red, black and silver.

Thanks for responding. No pics yet it is in parts, and only the engine rebuild and bolted into the frame. But I am leaning to a standard cafe type seat, and keeping the orginal tank which is in realy great shape. Do you have pics?? Can you send them to acornell53@comcast.net? Ill send you the old racer pics I am using as a guide.

Yipes now i see it. I am thinking of the same set up as well. What color code did you use? Was it hard to mount the seat?
