I will probably take it into my local engineering shop at the same time I have the cylinder bored
and ask them to have a go!
A gilera dealer here in the UK suggested (as this is what he has done in the past) that
I put a Philips screwdriver in the hole and wiggle it around!! Cant see how
that will work at all

Bite the bullet and make your own puller, I don't attempt to find as there are no dealers here for about 200Km, I've made all the tools I've use for my Gilera, Morini and Honda.

Well I have been able to fit new bearings in one half of the cases.

It is hard to source Gilera Extra parts here in the UK, but Ebay in the
US has no end of parts for vintage/classic Gileras, sold over there as
Sears.
They seem to have a better supply even than Italy!
Dose any one know of any Gilera Extra owners in the UK or clubs that cater
to this type of bike???

As you said the forks look good, though it looks like all this work on the Gilera is allowing the grass to grow between the paving slabs??
It is a bit of a gamble buying unseen but having bought 2 bikes and quite a lot of s/h and new parts from the UK and USA, touch I've not been ripped off "yet" and most of the people I have dealt with have been excellent.

In the short time in the Uk I was not able to find a crate for the RC600 so it's store until April/May next year, it was a barn find and looks pretty scruffy but with pressure wash would clean up well, I also bought a spare engine with carbs, ignition coils, plus some body panels.

At last I have found a puller for the dynamo armature.
Once the thread size had been identified 18x1.5, I had a look on ebay and found a Yamaha
flywheel tool with the same threads.

I bought it and it arrived today!
It fits the armature but, the centre bolt is too short to reach the depth
of the crank. I'll put a spacer between the bolt and crank to take up any
play. I will have a go at removing the armature tomorrow.
