Problem with gilera xr2

Post by danijel044 » Sun May 27, 2007 11:28 am

Hello I got a big problem. I have finaly manage to find carburator (whsb 32) but it was used and piston rings for malossi kit. I have put it all together and now my gilera simpli doesn't work. You can start it and she works fine untill you give her gas then she chokes and you have tu start it again. I have try to move ignition but it only get's worse. I have also cleand the exhaust but it didn't help. Is it carburator? I also heard that it could be problem with ignition(when some part of ignition "dies" you can't get high rmp ) Heeeeelp somebody!!!

Hi Danijel.

Well.... you can try to carburize your carburetor...

Try these operations:
- Get down conical pin position (upper position of pin-block on gas valve); one step at time, and start every time engine.
- If engine get more rpm you are on good way.
- Try new positions util engine works with a lean mixture but with a regular minimal number of rpm.
- At the same time you can control regular rpm acting on "air screw".
- You can also combine this operation on pin, and gradually get low the diameter of the maximum jet (little step at time).
- If you arrive at this condition, you can increase of just one position conical pin and drive your bike on road to test engine (be careful)......

Good Luck!!! *thumb*

Ciao

It may run to rich or to lean :)

First you should check back if your engine didn't suck fresh air somewhere between carb and engine (rubber parts ok?)

The fuel lines from the tank are ok? The fuel tap also?
Maybe something is blocked.

Warm up the engine and pull out the choke. Better? Your carb is somewhere on the lean side.

Another trick.... close a part of the intake at your air filter box with some adhesive tape. If your engine runs more weak it is to rich.
If it runs better it's to lean.

Be carefull... 2 strokers did eat pistons if they are way to lean ;)

Good luck....

ciao Joachim

Thanks evribody... a new carburator (PHBH 30) did the trick I could't get phbh 34 . I have manage to get it here in Croatia for "only" 88eur but it's brand new and it's orginal for my malossi kit http://www.malossi.com/Catalogo/Cata_Ma ... rt=1610963 . Did anybody put that malossi or polini kit on your bike? I'we heard that CRANKSHAFT doesn't last a long time when you put that kit. It make's sense beacuse it has 168ccm now.

I have that kit and after 8000 km my crankshaft works just fine. but before installation I replaced big end bearings and piston rod with new ones.
I also ordered Dellorto VHSB 34 for my XR1, and I'm interested can your PHBH 34 be fitted on original rubber flange, because it seems to me that diameter is quite larger, or you received new rubber flange with carb kit ?

Bok stari. Gle ako si i prije imao npr vhsb 30 a sad stavljas vhsb 34 razlika ce ti bit u ta 4mm misim da to mogao nagurat al nisam bas siguran.

S kitom dobiješ dvije glavne dizne, i samo treba stavit u fergazer veču diznu.
