Difficult engine starting....

Post by Gilgilera » Fri Dec 22, 2006 2:38 pm

I´m having difficulty starting my Rc engine, i tought it was the battery but i tried with a higher capacity car battery and the result was the same,...rechecked the valve adjustments once again and everything was like in the book, so i decided to check the inside of starter engine,...cleaned the brush pins and assembled it again.
After all this work...the problem remains,...so i decided to check the freewheel/drivengear,....after been removed from the engine i tried to rotate and i felt almost impossible to rotate the nonteeth gear,... i think i found the problem but before order a new one i would like to hear your opinion first,.....also where can i find a new one (not used),... !

we take 120€ plus Poro to Switzerland and back
so you get also a new steel plate
but if you like to do it by your own you can use the KTM pice it works also but take care to put the steel plat right on again

Best Regards

at your local K*M shop

part # is 584.40.026.000

price is something about 60 Euro, at least here.
But be carefull with the sheet matall cover.
I've just destroyed mine :(

There is a manual In GERMAN at www.rc600.de

just browse to 'Anleitungen'
'Reparatur des Anlasserfreilauf am Beispiel der RC 600'

Here it is, desassembled and ready for the new KTM parts,.....fortunately the inside and outside surfaces on the 2 wheels seems to be in good condition and no signs of damage,....but the circular spring that keeps the rolers in their place..... is too large and it is damaged . :)

as you can see..... the damaged rollers.

Hi, I had my starter free wheel apart the other day because it was sliping and not turning the engine on my XRT 600. I fixed mine by fitting a new spring from an oil seal. Even though the roller/ramps were worn badly the tighter spring done the trick. :D

Good job,....., i prefere to place a new set and avoid to open again that side of the engine in the near future, in my opinion.... this is best thing to do. !*thumb*
