Aprilia NOT Gilera for World Superbikes !!!
I see that the Gilera Ferro (850cc automatic) model that never reached production has suddenly now appeared as an Aprilia Mana. But there's more, Aprilia will be contesting the World Superbike series in 2008. One wonders at any logic within the Piaggio management. Surely the logical thing to do was to leave Aprilia on their own in the 125/250 racing scene (ie pull the Gilera Metis Team out of these events) and for Gilera to contest the World Superbikes. After all, Gilera made it's racing name and fame with the larger engined bikes.
Gilera=Piaggio, Aprilia=Piaggio, Piaggio=??????????????

Aprilia NOT Gilera for World Superbikes !!!
Hi Geert,
I saw Gilera GP800 and thought....Now Piaggio are making larger Gilera bikes....like you, I was mad to see a scooter.
Gilera (should) = Big bikes
Piaggio = scooters
Perhaps all Gileristi should get together and buy Gilera from Piaggio !!!!!

Here is my 2 cents on this,......, perhaps if a petition from Gileristas around the world and sent to Piaggio Group explaining our concerns,......well this would make any impact.....just a thought !pppdrive wrote:Hi Geert,

Doesn´t have to be by email, but by organized Gilera meetings and inviting the media and also peolple from Piaggio group,....or any other ways,.....remember what Paul and friends are planing for the 50th aniversary-Gilera meeting,....this would be a nice ocasion for that,......hundreds of Gileristas from all around the World,....old and the youngest bikes,......what do you think !

Great idea Gil.
If we can get as many Gileristi as possible to Mallory Park 14/15 July 2007 we can get some good publicity (we will also have a "Gilera Track session" for anyone who wants to 'test' their racing skills on the circuit).
Piaggio/Gilera have been invited to attend and for once, a reply was received (not by us, but to a third party), so just maybe they (Piaggio) will see how many Gileristi there are and start to help us, not ignore us.
