2. reindeer killing trip is coming

Post by jori » Mon Aug 14, 2006 12:35 pm

Nextweek we will start again our gileras and go to the Lappland. This time our target is not so far (only ~900km from Helsinki), but the area is place where army use to keep their shooting trainings. During our trip there is only a little bit shootings, so it should be safety...I haven't been there before, but I have heard that biggest rist is if you find unexplosed shell or some other explosive stuff....

Roads are (when there is road) real bad and lot of swamps and lot of big stones...I try to fix some photos for you after I am back home.

Hmm, it is one of greatest hiking path in Finland, but not allowed for any motor vehicle. I have been there several times, on foot. Real nice place, 60-90km long path.

Okey, time to write something. Lappland tour was great. 2137 km. No hits for reindeers, but few times it was more than near....RCR has good brakes...

Weather was great, we even wished little rain becase the dust was so heavy that sometimes you had to keep over 1km cap for the next.

Here is link for pics if someone wants to look:

Roads was as bad as I was thinking before trip. I have to say that RCR is very easy to handle at bad roads, but little bit heavy on swamp...
BTW, I found fastest way to the swamp. It goes directly over the steering bar...after founding that I feel little bit wet...and 1/2 hours later (after getting the bike again for harder ground) I was complety wet...not very fun at the moment. Later at sauna it was fun...

Bike worked very well all the tour. Only problem was the higher fuel comsumtion than before. Normally it has been around 6l/100km now it was around 7l/100km. Only chages before tour I made was new airfilter. I had to use the paper filter (MannFilter C1832, or something like that). It is not good. All airbox was full of dusty. Where to find better filter? The old one was kind of foam type, but it was broken and no more usable.
Is the K&N only one I could found or do you know if those foam filter are still available? And where?

Jori

I think foam is the best one! With the K&N you also have dust behind the filter - also in the caburateur! Very risky...

Sorry - but I do not know where to get the foam filter - maybe someone from gileraclub.de has one from the Nordwest... ON road you can take the paper-versions...
Rock on... *RCR

I found foam filter, Mr Bob Wright has original foam filters in stock!
Not cheap, not expensive....just good for engine health.

Hi Karolis,

Ofcoarse you are wellcome. Here in Finland we have many "offroad" happenings every year.
Problem for me is that I live in south part of Finland and best roads and trails are at Lappland. It meas at least 900-1000km before I am there.

Maybe the bestway to find Finnish offroad happenigs for street enduros is:
www.matkaendurot.net
http://www.matkaendurot.net/forum/index.php
Naturally everything is finnish....but it is easy to understand :lol:

T&N= tecnical things
kokoontumiset = meetings
sekalaiset=allkindofshit
osto ja myynti=forsale and buy
pyörät=bikes
projektit=projects
renkaat=tyres

Or you can sent e-mail for me offline: jori . makipaa at elisanet . fi
