Proposed British Gilera Owners Club

Post by pppdrive » Wed Oct 19, 2005 5:21 pm

Hi all,

I'm in the early (very early) stages of starting up a British Gilera Owners Club. Just sorting out a few legal requirements and hope to have it up and running for the new year.

If any previous members of the "Network" or anyone else who may be interested would like to contact me and offer suggestions, advice or whatever I'd be more than grateful.

I'm on pppdrive(at)dsl.pipex.com

New Club

Post by gileraman1 » Sat Oct 22, 2005 9:26 pm

Hi Paul,
A new UK club is a great idea.  Have you seen that Pete Fisher, one of the founders of the Gilera Net, has just started a new UK gilera forum at:
http://www.flarefox.com/gilera/gilera.htm. Might also be a good place to inform other Gileristi.
Also as you can see from this he is uploading all of the old GeNs which have much useful info within.
BTW I also have a Saturno but it is off the road at the moment due to complete electrical failure. Black, Japanese import,2500km!,pristine but one day about 6 months ago I went to start it and nothing!!!!
Where are you? I am in North London,
Ciao,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for that, I am in contact with Pete and will certainly use the UK forum when I have something definate to put in. Just waiting for a reply from Piaggio/Gilera and confirmation from my legal eagles and then will be able to let everyone know and start on the website.
I'm in Weston super Mare but coincidentaly was in Highbury today. Sorry to hear that your Saturno is electrically dead, any idea what the problem is? Can't offer you any help with your technical problems as I'm "technically dead from the toe nails up" and only know key in ignition, switch on, press start and go. If no go, then call mechanic.

If you have a picture or two of your Saturno, would appreciate if you could email them to me as that'll be one of the things for the monthly newsletter.
Ciao,
Paul

Hi Joachim,

I'm sure you'll be seeing the new British website shortly and all information will also be posted on this forum as well. I will need links to Gilera Club . DE and Gilera . CZ and any other Gilera Clubs as we all need to share joys, experience, problem solving and our beautifull Gileras.

I will also be hoping to organise a large Gilera meeting in England for 2007 when we all celebrate the 1957 Bob McIntyre first 100 mph of the Isle of Man TT on (of course) the mighty quattro.

Keep watching,
Paul

Hi Paul,

as I wrote in the GEN Forum - I would like to offer that you can start your Forum within this one (just like you can choose between the Annoucements and Gileraclub.de-Forum on the first page).
Moderator rights, etc. as you need them.

If you get an answer from piaggio please tell me who to ask - I tried this for several years via mail, fax etc. and didn´t even get a response once!
...it´s one point why the website portion of gileraclub.de is down (the others were my dissapointment over the czechs because they simply "stole" the content from our side when there was only gileraclub.de as a source for pics etc.) and if there is one mail by piaggio the domain will be gone. :(

Regards
Björn

Hi Bjorn,

Thank you for the offer to use your forum, I will certainly contact you again in the near future.

When (if) I receive a reply from Piaggio, I will let you know the contact details and hopefully we can both get Piaggio/Gilera to work much closer with us all in the Gilera world.

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay, but the website is now functional for Membership Applications.
Whilst the site is still under construction, applications can now be processed for the Clubs official start of 01Jan2006.
Additional pages will be added to the site as soon as possible.
Regards,
Paul
