Hi everybody
I have just read in the old GeN issue7 page 2 a membership experience by JasperTaal (Heavy into Nordwest) that he had a screaming sound from his clutch during heavy acceleration using the clutch.
I have experienced the same noise without being able to find any faults on any of the clutch components. Everything is in perfect condition without scratches or other marks.
Is this a common fault on the 558 engines? And does anyone know the course of the noise, and what to do about it?
Regards
Christian
PS I have also put this question on the new Flarefox Forum in case you see it twice

I am also having this problem. Sounds to me like the clutch is slipping...
I already have the stronger (in fact too strong) clutch springs so this is no cure.
I used to experice this only while accelerating and releasing the clutch lever.

You are right. Only while acceleration and releasing the clutch lever.
I stick more and more to the idea that it is the damping mechanism which is resonating as it does not have any damping apart from friction. A reader from Flarefox Forum have also had this problem.
Increasing friction between the damping mechanism moving parts may be a solution.

There were reports of slipping clutches because of the use of full synthetic oils - on the other hand there are drivers using this kind of oil and report no problems.
