welche Gileras sind das?

Post by Joachim » Tue Nov 21, 2017 6:46 am

Hallo

http://www.motorstown.com/56587-gilera- ... leo-07.jpg

- silver one is engine #201 *658
frame # 201 *341

- red one is engine # 104* 7639
frame # 104* 7639

From the list you sent, these numbers suggest:

- the silver one is a ‘175 Super’ (there appear to be two ‘series’ in your list IGM for 1963 and DGM for 1970).

…so does that mean that a ‘175 super’ = 202 ?? (from what the seller told me this fits).

- the red one is a '150 5V Autostrada’ (but what does ‘PVU’ mean ??).

Hello,

Prefix *201* means it is a Gilera 175/202 Super, built between 1963 and 1970.
This model was introduced as the 175 Super but it already had 202cc displacement.
After one year of production the model was renamed as Gilera 202 Super.
The louvred left hand cover means this is a European built Gilera.
The Argentinian version (like the 200GT) had louvres on the right hand cover.
The front fork, front wheel, seat and fenders are incorrect.

The red bike is a Gilera model named 150 Autostrada but it actually has 175cc displacement.
This is a late version with a 5 speed gearbox, great for touring on the Autostrada (hence the name).
PVU means Polizia Vigili Urbani, this was a production series that was sold to the local police.
The seat, exhaust and carburettor are not original.

Cheerio!

First post - thanks to all those that helped with these Gilera's, but particularly Joachim for being the go-between while my board registration went through. I've ended up buying these bikes as they were really quite cheap and are also rare in Australia.....well certainly I've never seen anything like these before.

I think I'll start new and separate threads on each of these bikes. The silver 202 is particularly intriguing for a perhaps surprising reason (I'll go into that in a new thread) and I'm going to be needing some further help and advice from the experts here. The red 150 is a fairly straight-foward restoration but I've found it will be needing a lot more work than I perhaps expected...for example look closely at the front wheel as there's something 'unexpected'. The answer in another thread..... :D

Thanks again.....
