Custom Gilera Saturno 500 FCR IOM

Post by customhead » Mon Jun 25, 2012 6:50 am

Hi all Saturno lovers,

here is one I have just finished off. I have had a few standard Gilera Saturno in the past and think the riding position is too severe for city and surrounds so have made a naked version. A few mods include JB/FCR 39 with custom inlet, quick throttle and cables by ANTLION, whitepower shock, motoguzzi clutch lever, modified WELLINGTON rear light (from an SR400 turned upside down), rear wheel and brake/master from a SUZUKI GOOSE 350.

had trouble uploading so find pics of it here:

and a video link here:

cheers,

Sean

Hi Customhead,
That is really nice, I do like the exhaust system.
My Saturno is the ex John Rushworth naked with a Nordie engine fitted with 2 x 32 Keihin carbs on a cleaned up head which according to the Dyno print outs that came with the bike gave just over 51bhp at the wheel, I have since fitted back a fairing and an original set of clocks, practical around town - err no but they do look lovely
Regards
John

Hi John,

I would love to see some pics of that! Do you have any extra info on what the head work was done?
It all sounds very interesting!

Hi Sean,
Mail me on jtbunting44@yahoo.co.uk and I will send photo's without fairing and as now with fairing.
John Rushworth built it and modified a head quite extensively, I am told he reduced the guide length a bit too much, which allowed valves to rock and eventually break, totaling the engine   he then bought a Nordie just for the engine (which he replaced with a CBR600  ) this second engine had the ports cleaned up but the guides and valves are stock and was dyno'd mid 1990's giving just over 51bhp at the wheel.
I also have a 604 big bore kit, head modified by TTS near Silverstone and another pair of Keihin flatslide carbs that were used by 72degrees in his hill climb Nordwest, that lot will be built up in my spare engine, which is waiting in UK to be shipped out to me, too much work and not enough time.
Regards
John
