Hi guys!
Well.... here what's happened.....
I've badly setted the "U" shaped metal stoppage plate in APTS exaust valve...
in too low position! (just a little bit!)
So when APTS exaust valve want to rotate, remains just half open!
Special thanks to Joachim and to Gottfried!!!!
Now it's all good!!!!
I hope not too much ice and snow.....
.... so I'll continue to use my Gilera XR1!!!!
Ciao

Re: Gilera XR1 125, 1988!!!! Trovata!!!! Finally!!!!
Hi guys!
Here my new….. little (I hope) problem!
I’ve an acid leak from my battery!
Acid goes down by battery vent tube, and then, when my Gilera XR1 it’s running, strikes my rear brake disk guard!!!!
Now……
Some ideas?
- I’ve generator problems?
- Does generator charge over 12 volts?
- Does generator it's settable?
- I’ve battery problem? (It’s a VARTA battery)
- I must to change my battery with an original Yuasa battery?
I need some suggestions!
Thanks a lot!
Ciao

Re: Gilera XR1 125, 1988!!!! Trovata!!!! Finally!!!!
The cheapest reason would be that you have just to much liquid in your batterygileraXR1 wrote: - I’ve generator problems?

In most cases, the generator itself is not the reason.
There is a voltage regulator which makes the right voltage for the battery, from whatever the generator is producing.
Did you have (or can lend) a voltmeter? A cheap one would be ok. Just connect the two wires to the battery (red on +, black on -)
switch to DC Range 20Volt. Start the engine and rev it up.
Voltage should be about 12,8V at idle and maximum 14,5Volt at high revs.
If you read more.... damaged regulator. This will boil your acid in the battery.
The cheap possibility could also be bad contact at the regulator connections.
You may clean the connectors. Also check the ground wire.
If the regulator is dead..... you will need another (new) one. Modern regulators can neither be adjusted, nore repaired.
At least not with usual home toolings.
The brand of the battery doesn't matter. Varta usually is a good, but also rather expensive one.
Good luck, Joachim

Uhm.....OK!
I just must to find a voltmeter!
I'll tell you more!
Thank you very much!
